We are dedicated to promoting climate awareness, resilience, and inclusive solutions towards effects of climate change. ECVK integrates education, innovation, and advocacy to empower individuals and communities to build sustainable futures. Since its establishment, ECVK has led initiatives in school-based greening, community sensitization campaigns, creative storytelling for advocacy, and collaborative youth networks addressing the effects of climate change. Through these efforts, ECVK continues to position itself as a trusted grassroots actor bridging communities, policymakers, and international climate conversations.

Our Strategy

Education

Climate Education and Awareness

Climate education remains a cornerstone for creating informed and empowered communities. ECVK institutionalizes climate literacy by establishing climate clubs in schools, developing tailored toolkits, and conducting structured awareness campaigns. The ecoclimate clubs provides a platform for young people to learn, innovate, and take ownership of climate solutions within their local environments.

Nature Solutions

Nature-Based Solutions

In recognition of the vital role ecosystems play in resilience, ECVK scales up tree-planting and ecosystem restoration initiatives. Initial interventions will focus on urban greening in schools and communities, followed by expansion to degraded landscapes, river catchments, and community forests. The initiative integrates tree planting with long-term nurturing systems to ensure survival rates, creating both ecological and social benefits.

Advocacy

Advocacy and Policy Engagement

ECVK recognizes that sustainable climate action requires enabling policies, and youth voices must be meaningfully integrated into decision-making. The organization builds its advocacy around generating evidence, developing youth-led policy briefs, and convening dialogues at county and national levels. At county level, ECVK focuses on embedding climate priorities into County Integrated Development Plans (CIDPs), ensuring that grassroots perspectives are reflected in planning and budgeting. At the national and international levels, ECVK positions itself as a credible youth voice in climate-health and climate education discourse, participating in platforms such as the UNFCCC COP, AU forums, and SDG reviews.

Innovation

Youth Empowerment and Innovation

Youth constitute over 70 percent of Kenya’s population and represent a critical demographic for climate action. ECVK establishes platforms that enable young people to innovate, lead, and scale climate solutions. The annual EcoClimate Youth Innovation Lab serves as a springboard for nurturing ideas into viable enterprises or community projects. Through mentorship, small grants, and incubation support, ECVK directly invests in at least 100 youth-led climate enterprises and initiatives by 2030. Complementing this, the ECVK Creatives Hub provides space for artists, storytellers, and digital innovators to produce advocacy content that connects with diverse audiences. The hub also serves as a regional platform to connect young creatives across East Africa, fostering collaboration in climate storytelling and advocacy.

Our Programs

Green and Clean Schools (GCS)

Our flagship school-based program under ECVK’s Climate Education and Nature-Based Solutions pillar. The intervention is designed to transform public schools in informal settlements and peri-urban areas into hubs of environmental learning and action. It aims to nurture environmentally responsible learners while improving school environments and surrounding communities. The intervention has three key areas of focus including; education through ecoclimate clubs, establishment of green parks of indigenous and fruit trees, and establishment of waste management systems within schools. This program fosters a generation of eco-conscious leaders directly within the education system who also are invaluable agents of change.

Climatengelism

ECVK’s approach to promoting climate literacy and behavior change through targeted education, simplified communication, and community engagement. It focuses on translating complex climate information into accessible, locally relevant knowledge, enabling communities to take informed climate action while contributing to sustainable development and resilience goals.

Ecoclimate Youth Innovation Lab

Incubating youth-led climate solutions and supporting green entrepreneurship. We provide mentorship and platforms for young innovators to scale their nature-based solutions and sustainability startups.
